The Atlanta Gold Rush

Synergy Films has long enjoyed the perks of shooting at home in Atlanta, Georgia and in our opinion, it’s the best place for productions of any scale. We have diverse location options - from the mountains to the beach, urban cities to rural landscapes - plus ever since the state passed the Entertainment Industry Investment Act in 2008, companies receive Georgia based tax credits up to 30% of approved production expenditures.

“The production scene here is going 100 miles per hour with its hair on fire,” said Synergy Films President and Executive Producer Chad Watkins, “Infrastructure for film production is constantly expanding and encouraging a growing industry here, it has a gold rush kind of mentality now.” The intrigue surrounding the city is not limited to film production. Over the past few years many Fortune 500 companies such as UPS, Porsche, and Mercedes-Benz have joined other companies such as Coca-Cola in establishing headquarters in the city. In tandem with the growth of community spaces such as Ponce City Market and the Beltline, Atlanta is becoming an increasingly attractive destination.

The city’s multifaceted growth has enticed a wide range of talent looking to break into the film industry. “We have definitely reaped the benefits of being based in Atlanta,” Chad added, “we have a wide pool of actors and actresses now, but getting talent behind the camera can sometimes be a different story.” Luckily, we have a well established team of experienced technicians at Synergy to keep up with the intensifying demand for production, and will continue to expand and diversify along with the city we call home.

Synergy is proof that Atlanta has much more to offer than its notoriously hot climate and tax credit initiative. Professionals and companies in the city have invested heavily in production infrastructure such as studios, making filming here highly accessible, affordable, and innovative - giving creatives everything they need to make “movie magic.”
